Garie Boardriders Rod Morgan is in red hot form this year. After excellent club, Illawarra regional and state title results he dominated the Australian Surfing Titles held at Port Macquarie taking out the Australian Champion title in the Senior Mens division. Rod Morgan (Garie) bagged the Aussie title in the over 28 men’s division, taking down Col Bernasconi (Dee Why), Ricky Marshall (NSW) and Wayne Hudson (Port Macquarie) with a 16.75 total, which included a 9.00 and a 7.75.
Garie Boardriders Secretary Hans Bendl said that Garie's strength is in the older divisions with Mark Brown bagging a 5th place in the Senior Masters and Ian (Fishkiller) Spencer bagging a 5th place in the Masters at the Aussie Titles as well. Rod Morgan put Garie Boardriders back on the surfing map with Garie first Australian Title win since the club was formed in 1978.
