2010

Happy new year & welcome to another year of Garie Boardriders. The new committee was elected at the AGM in December last year and are really keen to make this year a good one. We had our first meeting last week and if you have a look at the calendar you can see we have put forward a lot of really good events on top of our normal pointscore comps which require a lot of work to organise, like the sports luncheon, winter party, snow trip, Bendalong weekend, social comps etc. We are going all out so we need everyone to get behind us, get involved & participate.
There is a rego day and BBQ at Garie this Saturday morning 23rd Jan from 8:00am so if you can get down there it will save a lot of mucking around the morning of the first comp.
Again we are entering a team in this years Jim Beam Surftag, which is on Saturday 30th Jan at Cronulla, so we want as many of you as possible to get down there to support the boys.We are also incorporating a practice run for our team with the rego day.
It would be great to see more juniors join this year. It already looks like we are going to have more than last year but we would like as many as we can get, so if you know of any juniors of any standard, get in their ear & get them down there. If getting to comps is a problem we can arrange lifts to every comp from just about anywhere in the Shire, Helensburgh, & Stanwell Park.
Matt Dawson has already secured a lot of good sponsors for this year and is negotiating with a few more major ones, which would enable us to put up some really good prizes for this years place getters, so once this is finalized obviously we all need to support them as much as possible. As soon as the sponsors are all secured we would like to get the Tee-shirts out a lot earlier this year, hopefully for the second comp.
In closing, the main thing the new committee would like to see this year is a lot of old & new members getting involved & having a good time.
